Frequently asked questions.

Straight answers about evidence, privacy, certificates and pricing.

What exactly does CreatorProof prove?

That a specific file — identified by its SHA-256 fingerprint — was submitted to CreatorProof at the platform receipt time shown, and (when obtained) that an independent timestamp authority confirmed that moment. It is evidence that your work existed in that exact form at that time.

Does a CreatorProof certificate give me copyright?

No. In India, copyright arises automatically when an original work is created; registration with the Copyright Office is optional and separate. CreatorProof does not grant rights, decide authorship or replace official registration. It helps you preserve and present evidence.

Can anyone see my song, design or manuscript?

No. Files are private by default and stored encrypted with their own key. The public verification page shows only the details you allow — never the file. You can also choose “fingerprint only”, in which case we keep no copy at all.

What is a SHA-256 fingerprint?

A 64-character code calculated from every byte of your file. The same file always produces the same fingerprint; changing even one byte produces a completely different one. That is how anyone can later check that a file is exactly the one you recorded.

What is an independent timestamp?

For every version we send only the fingerprint (never the file) to an external Time-Stamp Authority using the RFC 3161 standard. It returns a signed token confirming the time. This does not depend on our own server clock or database.

What does the certificate number mean?

Every certificate gets its own automatic serial number, for example CPC-2026-000184-7. The last digit is a check digit that catches typing mistakes. Anyone can enter the number on the Verify page to open the matching record.

How does someone verify my certificate?

They scan the QR code or enter the Creation ID or certificate number on the Verify page. They see the record status, whether the certificate’s digital signature is valid, the timestamp evidence and the history check. If they have the file, they can compare it in their browser without uploading it.

What if I keep improving my work?

Add a new version. Every version gets its own fingerprint, timestamp and numbered certificate, and earlier versions are never overwritten — so you build a clear timeline of your creative process.

Can I record work made with collaborators?

Yes. On Professional and Studio plans you can list collaborators with their role and any agreed share. Each collaborator can confirm by email. This is recorded as user-provided information; it does not decide ownership.

What file types and sizes are supported?

Audio, video, images, documents, design files, presentations and code packages (ZIP). The maximum size depends on your plan and our settings. Executable and script files are not accepted.

Will this be accepted in court?

No platform can guarantee that. Courts decide what evidence to admit and how much weight to give it. CreatorProof gives you a well-organised evidence package — fingerprints, timestamps, audit history and signed certificates — that you and your lawyer can use.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. You can delete stored copies of your files at any time and request erasure of your account data. Fingerprints, timestamps and the audit history are kept in anonymised form because they protect the integrity of every record on the platform.

Which payment methods do you accept?

UPI, cards, net banking and wallets through our payment partner. Subscriptions can be cancelled anytime; see our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

I found a record that claims my work. What can I do?

Use “Report a problem with this record” on its verification page. Our team reviews every report, can place a record under review or revoke it, and keeps both sides’ records intact. We do not make legal determinations of ownership.

Still have a question?
